Robert Krekel is a sound designer at SCEA, who apparently got a little too excited about his upcoming project – you guessed it – Playstation All-Stars: Battle Royale for the PS3 and PS Vita. A snippet of information from his LinkedIn profile was discovered, as he had listed the title as being his current working project. It seems that this cross-platform release is all but wrapped up with a bow, but it’s not like nobody saw it coming.

Of course, nothing is set in stone until a public statement by the developer or publisher is made. At the very least, this update offers fans something to talk about and look forward to while PS All-Stars is in production. The only question that remains, for now, is how this cross-platform release will affect the gameplay. Various other upcoming titles are set to release on both the PS3 and the Vita, including LittleBigPlanet Karting.

The Wii U is priding itself on interaction between the console and its controllers, each with their own screen to participate in the gaming action with. Might Sony be planning a similar feature for the PS Vita release? Though it would be interesting to use the Vita to control gameplay on the PS3 title, chances are it will simply feature bonus content, alternate characters, etc.

Ranters: Are you excited to see PS All-Stars come to the PS Vita as well as the PS3? What changes to the fighter game genre, if any, does Sony’s cross-franchise entry stand to make?

PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale is set to release later this year, and already features many characters from PlayStation-exclusive franchises.
