While the other two Mega Evolution events focused on battling in Raids and other trainers, this third one is a bit more chill. Trainers can enjoy in-game bonuses revolving around the actual Mega Evolution process, such as increased Mega Evolution time and much more.

Be sure to complete the tasks and take advantage of all that Pokémon Go has to offer during this week-long event.

POKEMON GO MEGA EVOLUTION EVENT 3 START TIME

The Mega Evolution 3 event begins Tuesday, September 22, at 8 a.m. local time and ends Monday, September 28, at 10 p.m. local time.

POKEMON GO MEGA EVOLUTION EVENT 3 TIMED RESEARCH

Like the other two Mega Evolution events, this one will include timed research tasks for trainers to complete.

Complete the tasks before the event ends to earn useful items and more.

We won’t know the complete list of tasks until the event begins this week, although Niantic has teased that it will “usher in the spooky season.”

The latest event has begun in certain parts of the world. Here’s the list of timed research tasks that you can complete:

Catch 5 Pokémon - Razz Berry (x3)Make 5 Great Throws - Poke Ball (x3)Give your buddy 3 treats - Houndour encounter

Catch 10 Pokémon - Pinap Berry (x3)Use 5 Berries to help catch Pokémon - Poke Ball (x3)Earn a Candy walking with your buddy - Buneary encounter

Catch 9 different species of Pokémon - Golden Razz Berry (x3)Mega Evolve a Pokémon - Great Ball (x3)Earn 7 Hearts with your buddy - Haunter encounter

Claim Reward (x3) - Silver Pinap Berry (x3), Poke Ball (x10), Ultra Ball (x5)

MEGA GENGAR

Like Mega Pidgeot and Houndoom before it, Mega Gengar will be the reward unlock for completing certain tasks during this event.

However, trainers won’t have to complete or battle a certain number of battles to unlock the Ghost-type Pokémon. They simply must complete the timed research for a “chance” to unlock ANOTHER timed research that features Mega Gengar during this year’s Halloween event.

IN-GAME BONUSES

In the overworld, Pokémon Go trainers will see Pokémon that are large in size appearing more frequently. Niantic lists Doduo, Alolan Exeggutor, Pinsir, Lapras, Snorlax, Furret, Wobbuffet, Mantine and Skarmory as examples of these types of Pokémon.

In addition, Shiny Doduo will make its debut in Pokémon Go during this event. Unlike its light-brown coloring, Shiny Doduo changes to a light-green color so you won’t mistaken it for its normal form.

These large Pokémon will also begin appearing in Raids to offer trainers another chance at finding a Shiny Doduo.

Mega-Evolved Pokémon will stay in this form for 12 hours instead of the standard four, giving trainers a way to take down Raids and Team Go Rocket with ease.

Poffin’s duration will double during the event and there will be an increase in Beedrill Mega Energy from field research during the event. This week-long event will also have tasks that reward Mega Energy for Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise.
