Tornadus will appear in Level 5 Raids in Pokémon Go until Tuesday, February 25 at 4 p.m. EST, and with it the other Raids have changed as well. Continue reading to learn more about Tornadus, its weaknesses and how to combat it.

POKEMON GO TORNADUS COUNTERS

Tornadus is the first pure Flying-type Pokémon in the popular mobile game and that gives it the following weaknesses: Electric, Rock, and Ice.

Luckily for many Pokémon Go players, there are a ton of powerful Electric and Rock-type Pokémon that can take advantage of Tornadus’ weaknesses. This includes more than one Legendary Pokémon that was available through previous Raids or in the Research Breakthrough.

Tornadus’ typing makes it resistant to the following attacks, so avoid Pokémon that use them: Ground, Fighting, Grass, Bug.

Your choice in Pokémon team against Tornadus might also depend on other factors like the weather. If the weather is rainy it’s best to select an Electric-type Pokémon. Partly Cloudy boosts Rock-type attacks and Snowy boosts Ice-type moves, so make sure to check what Pokémon Go says the weather will be before heading into battle.

Tornadus may also unleash a variety of attacks that can take out your Pokémon. The most common threat would be Grass Knot’s effectiveness against Rock type. The Recommended screen when you first enter a Raid offers big hints about which attacks Tornadus has going in. If it doesn’t recommend Rock types, then there’s a good chance it has a move that can counter them.
