Pokémon players have had over a month of generally smooth sailing since the scary Lumiose City save bug was patched, but a new update has now arrived to address a few bugs that aren’t quite as game-breaking. The new patch, which replaces version 1.1, was released on December 13 and can be downloaded in the Nintendo eShop.

The update is highly recommended by Nintendo and is mandatory for players that want to battle online. Here are the details…

Before the update, some users were reporting that their Pokémon were unable to learn new moves after evolving through the Wonder Trade method. After the update is applied, the problem should be eliminated.

Pokémon enthusiasts will want to make sure they have the 1.2 update in place before the release of the upcoming Pokémon Bank. The Pokémon Bank, which was announced back in September, will give users the opportunity to store up to 3,000 Pokémon in the cloud.

Access to the cloud-based feature will cost trainers an annual fee of $4.99. If you are interested in the upcoming Pokémon Bank, you can score a free 30 day trial period by downloading the app between its launch on December 27 and January 31. In combination with the Poké Transporter, the Pokémon Bank app offers a pretty useful list of features for the hardcore players out there.

If that isn’t enough Pokémon excitement to get you emotional, then maybe this amazing Pokémon comic will put you over the edge…

Even if you don’t think you’ll make much use of the 3,000 storage slots, the opportunity to easily transfer Pokémon from the Black and White generation to the Kalos region seems worth five dollars to us.

Are you willing to shell out a few dollars for some more convenient and robust cloud-based Pokémon storage? Sound off in the comments.

Pokémon X & Y are both currently available on the 3DS. The Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter will be available on December 27.
